Yellow dog Updater, Modified
YUM, is described as an automatic updater and package installer/remover for rpm systems. It automatically computes dependencies and figures out what things should occur to install packages that correctly calculates dependencies. It is written in Python. To use it you need the Debian package python2.3-rpm which installs Python bindings for the RPM library by Red Hat. All the interesting dependency calculation, etc. is done by the RPM library.
