SCRAM
~~ The development of large-scale software projects across geographical boundaries requires rigorous configuration management. SCRAM, short for "Software Configuration, Release, and Management," is a flexible and scalable software-development tool designed for such a task. SCRAM provides configuration management, distribution, and software build services to ensure consistent and easy to use development environments that work in a multiplatform environment. This enables autonomous development groups to work together.Chris Williams in Dr. Dobb's Journal April 2001 ~~
SCRAM
Chris Williams is the original author and maintained SCRAM until November 2000, while he was working at CERN. Dr S. F. Ashby is now the maintainer of SCRAM and the author of the build system.(Precisions from Dr S. F. Ashby) The home page can be found at the following url: http://cmsdoc.cern.ch/Releases/SCRAM/doc/scramhomepage.html
Features
Here is a non-exhaustive list taken from the article below.- works with source-code repositories (supporting CVS)
- allows point-to-click installation (from a web page)
- bootstrap document containing server's urls
- separate "requirement document" which is then shareable between projects ; also this document can be displayed as a web page (XML syntax)
