IndicatorData consistency
ID DIS-3
Definition This indicator gives the number contents (packages) that are present on the reference server and missing on the mirrors or trusted peers. It is calculated for each mirror/trusted peer and for each distribution version. Several statistics will be drawn from this indicator: number of missing packages for each mirror/trusted peer and for each distribution version, evolution of this number in time, average value across all mirrors/trusted peer, average value per country.

Weights related to the importance of different packages will be introduced for enhancing the expressiveness of the indicator.

Implementation note
  • Hierarchical mirroring architecture
The indicator will be implementated by the mirror monitoring framework. The starting point is the mirrors list known by the distribution editor. An index file (named hdlist in the Mandriva Linux example) is created every time a new set of packages is introduced into the distribution. This index contains a list of packages present in the distribution, and additional information about each package. For each mirror it is checked whether the list of packages reflects exactly the content of the reference hdlist file. All the information about mirrors' state, and missing files etc. is stored in a database.
  • WP4 P2P system architecture
The consistency of contents will be checked by KadoP system, that will pass the results on to handlers storing the consistency status of the resources available on the trusted peers and on end user peers.
